CMC-Korpora und Digital Literacy in der Fremdsprachendidaktik: Relevanz, Potentiale und didaktische Szenarien

Abstract

In the age of digital transformation, the reflective handling of digital (linguistic) data is a central competence that is only gradually being taken into account in didactic contexts – including foreign language didactics. The European Reference Framework for Digital Competencies of the European Commission offers a framework for assessing and improving so-called digital literacy, divided into five areas of competence. Several of these areas of competence are particularly important for the present contribution: In addition to the handling of information and data from digital platforms, communication and collaboration on these platforms and the compliance with netiquettes are relevant. It will be examined how digital research infrastructures with the respective CMC corpora (Computer Mediated Communication) available there can promote the development of digital literacy in foreign language didactics. The article deals with the following questions: Which corpus research tools provide access to CMC data? Which teaching and learning goals can be achieved with the help of CMC corpora in foreign language didactics? Which potentials and didactic scenarios of CMC corpora in foreign language didactics can be identified?
